IO Interactive announced days before the release of Hitman 3 on the Epic Games Store that gamers will not be able to transfer saves from the second part. This is necessary so that the owners of the previous series could play the updated levels and gain access to the new mechanics and gadgets. The developers admit that they have done everything possible, but the final procedure of the game experience transfer will be different from the original plans. Previously, the studio said that the owners of copies of Hitman and Hitman 2 in Steam will receive an Access Pass for free, which gives access to the content from the first two games. Now you have to buy the pass. The studio claims that the decision was made for reasons beyond its control.
Now, in order to get access to Hitman and Hitman 2 content in the third installment, players must:
- Get the HITMAN 1 GOTY Access Pass. It will be given out for free for 10 days to anyone who bought or pre-ordered Hitman 3. It will also be given for free to anyone who received Hitman 1 as part of a giveaway from the store when owners of the game buy Hitman 3.
- Get the HITMAN 2 Standard Access Pass or the HITMAN 2 Gold Access Pass. For 14 days after the release of Hitman 3, this pass will be on sale for 80% off. After that, the developers promise that they will try to regularly sell these passes at a discounted price.
The gamers didn’t appreciate such sly tricks of the developers. They blame IO Interactive – for the fact that the studio “took EGS’s money” and, of course, the store itself. After all, many are convinced that the “developer-independent reasons” are related to Epic Games. Part of the players say they refuse to pre-order. Recall that Hitman 3 will be an Epic Games exclusive for a year. Earlier we reported that the studio has refused to localize the game in Russian. Hitman 3 will be released on January 20 on all platforms.
